How do I receive my OHIP-covered cycle at Hannam?
The Ontario Ministry of Health has capped this coverage at 5000 cycles per year. In other words, 5000 patients will receive an OHIP-covered cycle in 2016. This limit naturally causes wait lists. If you’re a current Hannam Fertility Centre patient, you can become eligible simply by contacting your nurse. If you aren’t a current patient of ours, you can request an appointment.
How do I learn more about what’s covered, what’s not, and how it works?

Should I wait for funding?
We worry when we see patients with poor ovarian reserve, over 37 years, or patients who hope for more than one pregnancy waiting for funding. We think it is important to communicate clearly that although funding is being made available, we do not advocate waiting if it may compromise care and success rates. However, waiting may be the right choice for some. To learn more about funding, please read this helpful patient guide from the Ministry of Health.
How does Hannam Fertility Centre feel about this?
Looking at the big picture, we feel optimistic. As doctors (and humans), we strongly believe that all patients should have access to the fertility treatment and IVF treatment they need. IVF is a fairly complicated treatment that comes with significant technical costs. By offsetting some of the expense, more patients will be able to start potentially life-changing treatment. We hope this coverage proves to be as supportive for Ontario patients as possible.
